Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne?

For auld land syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

And here's a hand my trusty fiere
And gie's a hand o'thine
And we'll tak a right guid-willie waught,
For auld lang syne.

For auld land syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

For auld land syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne!

Today is a good day to end it (the year that is)

I need to sort the font for my Media Player. The track from Bond, Back In Action from Diamonds Are Forever Suite reads Blofeld's Laser. I read it as Blofeld's a Loser. Either that or get my eyes tested. Read more »

Daily Horoscope - The End - LJ Plans for the New Year

Taurus

You’re still not showing all your cards, but somehow that doesn’t seem to matter. Even if you’ve been holding something in reserve, it just may be time to play your hand--or you’ll lose the chance completely. This isn’t the time to be stubborn. It’s time to negotiate and compromise. Circumstances are requiring that you respond. Nothing is gained by acting wishy-washy. Work hard and give it your best.

And with this I end my run of posting my horoscope. Read more »

I never had a chance

I had decided to apply for the DV Lottery anyway, but while reading the small print I just found this:

Natives of the following European countries do not qualify for this year's diversity program: Great Britain and Russia. Great Britain (United Kingdom) includes the following dependent areas: Anguilla, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Falkland Islands, Gibraltar, Montserrat, Pitcairn, St. Helena, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Fiction: Jorlanth's Last Words 1/2

This was written as part of Carlos Alos-Ferrier's "short" adventure set in the Etan system in his Beyond the Extents setting, a varient of the Traveller setting. This game started at the beginning of April 2003 and was carried by the Yahoo Group 'Traveller'. Credit to Carlos for the adventure, and to the other players for their characters. Jorlanth's actions and attitudes are the only thing that I can claim credit for. Also note that Jorlanth's interpretation of what happened isn't necessarily accurate. He did spend entirely too much time as a cowering gibbering wreck after all. Read more »

Jorlanth prepares to tell all

I'm working on a piece of fiction based on the events in an email based RPG that started in April. It is very close to the end and my character is the only one left standing on a shuttle lost in the void of space. So this is his recollections into the ships computer should rescue not arrive before his air runs out. It's funny writing it totally subjective, twisting things from how they actually happened to how Jorlanth recalls them or want them to be remembered. Hopefully the other players will get a kick out of it as they will know what really happened and how he is twisting things. Read more »

Daily Horoscope

Taurus

Your planet, Venus, is now picking up the magical, mystical vibes of Neptune--and this encourages you toward fantasy. In fact, your imagination will make your desires seem ream. Therefore, you Bulls need to make certain that things are really as you think they are before taking any action today.

Better Day

People come in and out of your life. They make you happy, they cause you grief. And then they're gone. All that's left are ripples where they once were. Ripples, stretching out forever.

USAIS was a scam

It's one of those days.

I've just received an email from the USA FTC containing an alert(PDF) claiming that 'USA Immigration Services' isn't affiliated with the government, that it's principals are in jail and that it is actually free to enter the Diversity Visa Lottery. Interesting given that I applied during the summer and had to pay. Erm. I may have been scammed. The website I used was 'www.usais.org', which has since disappeared. Bugger! Read more »

A visit to grandad's

I was at my Grandfather's yesterday. He seems to be in good health and good spirits. I had thought that this was the first time I've seen him since his 80'th birthday party, but I visited him in hospital some time since. For the life of me I can't find a reference to it in my journal. It was sometime after mid-July, I'm fairly certain of that. I remember that Sylvia and I had split up by then and I was still depressed as hell about it. Not really the sort of visitor you appreciate when your in hospital. Read more »
